For parents

  • Do a few rows at a time. Five minutes a day beats one long session.
  • Check the pencil grip and that each letter starts at the right place, usually at the top.
  • Say the letter name and its sound as your child writes it.
  • Praise the best one on each line, and ask your child to pick their favourite.

For teachers

  • Uses the SA Beginners school font on four-line guides (top, dashed middle, baseline, descender).
  • Capital and lowercase pairs, then numbers 0 to 9 and a line for the child's name.
  • Good for morning work, handwriting groups or homework.
  • Photocopy freely for your class.
